KOTA MADIUN (DinasPUPR) – Walikota Madiun, Maidi bersama Kepala Dinas PUPR dan Kepala Dinas Perdagangan turun langsung melakukan pengecekan rehab Pasar Kawak, Rabu siang (16/8). Itu lantaran rehab Pasar Kawak, merupakan salah satu proyek strategis Pemkot Madiun.
Walikota Maidi menyatakan, Pasar Kawak merupakan salah satu pasar legendaris di Kota Madiun. Apalagi barang dagangan yang dijual diklaim berkualitas tinggi, sehingga pangsa pasarnya mayoritas adalah masyarakat kalangan menengah ke atas.
Karena itu, kondisi pasar lama direhab agar lebih tertata. Selain mendongkrak pendapatan pedagang, tingkat kunjungan ke pasar Kawak diharapkan semakin tinggi.
“Maka pasar ini kita perbaiki, biar bersih, masuk pasar tidak kumuh, barangnya bagus akhirnya pasar legendaris itu akan kembali seperti aslinya. Saya terima kasih kepada pedagang yang ditata ‘manut’, karena dengan pengalaman penataan di Pasar Sleko, ternyata perputaran uang satu bulan disana milyaran rupiah,” ujarnya.
Maidi menyatakan, pedagang lama diprioritaskan menempati Pasar Kawak. Hanya saja, mereka diminta mengikuti manajemen pasar, termasuk soal kebersihan.
“Kita targetkan rehab ini empat bulan bisa selesai,” ucapnya.
Disamping itu seluruh pusat ekonomi di Kota Madiun yang belum tersentuh rehab akan diperbaiki. Sebab ia tidak ingin perekonomian di wilayah setempat terganggu.
“Tempat tumbuh ekonomi itulah yang kita perbaiki, sehingga tumbuhnya akan bagus,” tambahnya.
Walikota Maidi berharap dengan rehab yang dilakukan, Pasar Kawak kedepan semakin ramai dan diminati masyarakat. Apalagi lokasinya cukup strategis di tengah kota, serta berdekatan dengan wisata kuliner Bogowonto Culinary Center (BCC).
“Karena BCC ini menjadi kuliner kereta terbaik, bahan-bahannya juga diambilkan dari situ (pasar Kawak.red), maka kita tingkatkan kualitasnya termasuk bangunannya,” bebernya. (*)
