KOTA MADIUN (Dinas PUPR) – Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang (DPUPR) Kota Madiun membangun patung pendekar di tugu simpang lima (proliman) Jalan Diponegoro. Pendekar yang dimaksud bukan mencerminkan salah satu perguruan pencak silat di Kota Madiun, tetapi representasi dari program kerja yang termaktub dalam panca karya. Yakni pintar, melayani, membangun, peduli, terbuka dan karismatik.
“Sesuai programnya pak walikota panca karya, makanya patung itu representasi dari itu,” ujar Kepala DPUPR, Suwarno.
Pembangunan patung pendekar itu juga menjadi salah satu ikon baru di Kota Madiun. Sekaligus menguatkan tagline Madiun Kota Pendekar yang digagas pemerintah. Pun patung tersebut juga bisa memutar serta dilengkapi dengan jam di empat penjuru, yang bisa dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Utamanya pengguna jalan yang melintas. (*)
