KOTA MADIUN (DinasPUPR) – Pondok Lansia Jalan Menuju Surga di kawasan lapak Bumi Semendung, Kelurahan Klegen, Kota Madiun resmi beroperasi. Itu setelah Walikota Madiun, Dr. Maidi, meresmikan pondok lansia, Jumat (15/12).
Pondok lansia itu sebelumnya dibangun Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang (DPUPR). Anggaran yang digelontorkan miliaran rupiah.
Usai diresmikan, pondok bisa langsung ditempati para lansia. Pada kesempatan itu, orang nomor satu di Kota Madiun mewanti-wanti masyarakat agar tidak menelantarkan lansia.
‘’Lansia harus diurusi jangan malah ditinggalkan. Lansia akan kita perhatikan melalui pondok lansia ini,’’ kata walikota.
Maidi menambahkan lansia tidak sekedar tinggal di asrama pondok. Tetapi juga akan dilakukan pengecekan kesehatan hingga diberikan kegiatan-kegiatan agar mereka tetap produktif.
“Lansia tetap harus berkegiatan agar semakin sehat. Tentu kegiatan yang sesuai dengan usia mereka,” katanya.
Selain itu, juga akan diperbanyak kegiatan bernuansa keagamaan. Hal itu penting untuk menyiapkan bekal sebelum menghadap yang Maha Kuasa.
“Bayi terlahir ke dunia dalam keadaan suci, lansia yang juga harus kembali suci sebelum menghadap Illahi,’’ paparnya.
Di kawasan pondok lansia itu, Pemkot menyediakan dua asarama. Masing-masing asrama untuk menampung lansia laki-laki dan perempuan.
Seperti diketahui, anggaran pembangunan dua asrama tersebut mencapai Rp 9,4 miliar. Pekerjaan meliputi pengurukan lahan seluas 12.000 meter persegi, pembangunan dua gedung asrama dengan 14 unit kamar, selasar dan pagar pondok lansia.
Pembangunan asrama pondok sejatinya sudah selesai September lalu. Walikota Dr. Maidi menyebut pembangunan masih akan berlanjut. Salah satunya, penambahan dua asrama lagi di sebelah utara masjid pondok lansia.
‘’Yang kurang sempurna akan kita sempurnakan. Pondok lansia harus bisa memberikan manfaat yang maksimal,’’ pungkasnya. (*)
